Why Callapina

We've been surrounded by entrepreneurs since 2010 — and slowly turned that into a practice.

Since 2010, we have been surrounded by entrepreneurs — a rare breed of humans with long-term vision, high creative energy, and a passion for making an impact in the world. These interactions have shaped our thinking and outlook towards life.

We therefore also understand their pain points quite well, especially when it comes to raising capital. In an effort to give back and find our own place in the world, we decided to solve their capital needs to the extent possible. We started our journey as angel investors, which evolved into syndication via an investor community that grew around us, and is now an early-stage fund. We focus on grounded, gritty founders who are solving critical problems for society.

Anas Rahman Junaid
GP at Callapina

Anas is GP at Callapina Capital and the Founder & Managing Director of Hurun India — the canonical dataset of Indian wealth, founders, and the coming generation of unicorns.

Through Hurun India, Anas operates with a richness of insight into where Indian capital concentrates, which founders are de-risking, and which sectors are about to inflect — context no other emerging-manager fund can replicate.

When Callapina sees a deal, Anas brings the school, the early backers, the family-office adjacency, and the position of every founder in the broader Indian-wealth network — shortening diligence cycles and sharpening conviction.

Vinod Jose
Vinod Jose
GP at Callapina

Vinod is GP at Callapina Capital. He has spent twelve years investing in and operating alongside Indian-origin founders building global companies.

Vinod made his first angel investment in 2013, more than three years before "India SaaS" was a category that LPs would underwrite. The angel portfolio he built has produced realized returns of approximately 3.15× MOIC at ~30% IRR — including a Carestack exit and a Profoundis acquisition by FullContact.

He co-founded Konglo Ventures, runs AquaIntel — an AI-driven intelligence platform for the global water-utility sector — and operates the Callapina diaspora network across 15+ countries, brokering customer, capital, and hiring introductions for every Callapina portfolio company.

How we invest

Patience compounds. Discipline reads the board.

We hold for years, not quarters. Twelve years on, the bets we made before the consensus formed are the bets that defined the practice. Conviction up front; presence all the way through.
